Do you feel like every week there’s some band your “eccentric” co-worker/friend is trying to turn you on to? Are you confused as to which band with the word “wolf” or “horse” you’re supposed to like? Lucky for you, every week DJ Father Guido spends hours in his lab sifting through bits and bytes of hipster blog entries and indie magazines searching for the finest aural pleasures available. Then the Father compiles them here for you to enjoy in the comfort of the Donnybrook Campus.
...and now we return to Fall '06 with Return to Cookie Mountain. Why, you ask. Well I sort of forgot about this album. I don't know why. Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes was my favorite album for about two years. I remember being really psyched for the follow-up. Then it came and went and here I am "re-"discovering it a year later. It seems that even though I wasn't listening to TV On The Radio the kids must like 'em because they are up for a Woodie. For those of you who aren't in college, a Woodie is the award given out by the only MTV channel that's still relevant, MTVU (the U stands for University...and now you've been schooled). So anyway, TV has been nominated for the Best Video Award. It's for their song "Province" but I wanted to play "Wolf Like Me" instead. So there ya go, bitches!!!

On to the Playlist!!!!!(remember to click the links; goodies await)
"Wolf Like Me"    TV On The Radio. Click the link for a live video of this song. I've been told they don't come across live very well. This amazes me, but it's a telling fact about great production vs. showmanship.

"Who Stole The Soul?"    Public Enemy . I think we know the answer to that. It's not that VH1 really stole so much as exploited the soul of Flava Flav. I'm not hating. I love Flav's hijinks as much as the rest of America, but damn! I saw Chuck D on the intro to Flav's roast. He did not want to be there. Awkward.

"Mashin' on the Motorway"    DJ Shadow. I love the found sounds.

"If You Could Read Your Mind"    Clinic. Did you know Arcade Fire covered Clinic? How fucking cool is that. I love when bands play covers that no one knows. How snobbish.

"Children Of Kellogg"    Clinic. Again? Yeah, fuck it!!

"No Names (Black Debbie)"    Dangerdoom. I just went for the intro on this song because, after all, the spoken samples (sampled from Adult Swim cartoons) really are the best part about the album collabo between Danger Mouse and Doom. I'm a huge Doom fan, but his weird, stream-of-consciousness raps fit much better over his weird, spaced-out samples. Danger Mouse doesn't do much for this duet. And now it has taken you longer to read this than it took for the snippet to play.

"?"    Outkast. What would make a nigga want to watch Idlewild? I don't know but it's up for a Best Movie Award. Granted it's the BET awards, but still. BET could just give Dre & Big Boi an award for continuing to work together. Or maybe BET could just preform an intervention and talk Andre into letting his inner ATLien back out.

"Jet"    Ellen Allien & Apparat. I'm digging these Berlin DJ's hypnotic beats. I'm not normally a fan of this style, but they've got something abstract bubbling under the surface of their otherwise normal electronica.

"Heavy Metal"    Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. I keep thinking I don't like this band, but maybe it's just that I didn't like any of their songs until I heard this one.

"Chocolate"    Solillaquists Of Sound. The Solillaquists are a unique hip-hop band that have elements of the Roots, Tribe Called Quest, and Wu-Tang. On the surface this 2 girl/2 guy group seems like your average coffee shop hip-hop, but really they're more experimental and have a little something for everyone.

"Un
